Greystanes Disability Services ("Greystanes") provides services to people with disabilities who may have significant support needs and to their families. We are located in the Blue Mountains and Nepean regions of New South Wales, Australia. For more information, go to our website at www.greystanes.org.au
SJ's Story
SJ is the mother of Hamish and the first person to seek services through Greystanes' Home Support Services, which launched in February 2016. SJ worked as an outdoor recreational teacher for many years and was an avid adventurer who enjoyed skiing, rock climbing, abseiling and canyoning. She also cycled across Australia. In 2013, SJ went into hospital for a common back surgery to relieve nerve pain from a herniated disc in her back. SJ awoke from surgery with a spinal cord injury. Greystanes' Home Support Services provides a range of personal and domestic support services for SJ in her home.

Why people put their children to home care? Why do they thing is better for strangers to care for their child? That's sad and it's not okay
Do you realise how exhausting it is for families to care for disabled kids, teens and adults at home?? It can really stop people from living a normal and happy life caring for their disabled kids full time who have needs you dont even know about so be quiet.
That's not okay to treat them like that at all!
This is so ridiculous! Forcing them to do stuff they can't it's abuse! They can't speak for themselves! It's so sad! Where do you go with that?
They are trained professionals who have consulted with family on their abilities, what they want and don't want to do, medical needs and how they communicate.
It good for muscles. Imagine if they didn’t move their muscles and fine motor. It hurt muscles to not move. Believe me. I know not many people know that. I can’t explain. But no movement hurts.
